According to press, which was enchanted by Maria Anikina, “Maria is a musical personification of freedom, poetry and inner power”, “due to her high pianistic talent Maria has a rich palette of colors which amazes all audiences” (“Young Musician”, Russia).
Swiss newspaper “Luzern Zeitung” also was very complimentary to Maria: “with her powerful sound Maria mastered the whole spectrum: from the romantic pathos till the brilliant virtuosity”.
Maria performs regularly in such famous concert halls as KKL in Lucerne, Theater Curci (Barletta), Notre Dame de Sion (Istanbul), Remonstratkerh (Amsterdam), Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. She also has performed in various concert halls in Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Germany, Poland, Estonia, Ukraine and Russia. Maria appeared as a soloist with such orchestras as Lucerne Symphony Orchestra (LSO), Central Swiss Philharmonia, Symphony Orchestra “Orchestra Sion”, Chamber Orchestra “Academie”, Symphony Orchestra of Alfred Schnittke.
Maria is a prize winner of numerous international competitions, such as: International Piano Competition „Giorgos Thymis“ in Thessaloniki in 2017, International Piano Competition „Orchestra Sion” in Istanbul in 2015, “Tunbridge Wells Concert Artist Piano Competition ” in London in 2013. Maria received the top prize “Golden Parnass” at the International Pianists Forum in Sanok, Poland, and the “Euterpe Prize” in Bari in 2012.
She is an absolute winner of the following international competitions: “Scarlatti Competition”, Kostroma International Competition (Russia), and “Musica Classica” in Moscow, where Maria also received a special prize for the best interpretation of Spanish music.
Her discography includes 3 recordings. The third disk with the Second concerto of Prokofiev was recorded with the conductor James Gaffigan and the Lucerne Symphony orchestra in KKL and had very positive reviews.
For example Katharina Thalmann from the newspaper “Kulturteil.ch” wrote: “The high point of the evening was the performance of the Prokofiev’s Second Piano Concerto by Maria Anikina. The level of skill, excitement and freedom shown by the soloist was extraordinary. To show these qualities on top of the technical and emotional challenges that this Concerto presents, is a huge achievement. But the soloist has even more: high sensitivity and creativity of interpretation”.
Maria received her Masters Degree in Piano Performance with honours at the Lucerne University in the studio of Professors Konstantin Lifschitz and Benjamin Moder and worked as assistant of K. Lifschitz. She participated in various masterclasses with such distinguished Professors as Menahem Pressler, Paul Badura-Skoda, Dina Joffe, Andrzej Yasinski, Robert Levin, Vladimir Viardo, Martin Helmchen, Mikhail Voskresensky and Vladimir Tropp. At the moment Maria is perfecting her mastery of the instrument at the famous International Piano Academy Lake Como with the best musicians of our time.
